Abstract

The article provides an analytical review of the problem of restoring psychological resilience among internally displaced persons in the context of contemporary social challenges caused by the war in Ukraine. The relevance of the study is determined by the large-scale nature of internal displacement, which is accompanied by the loss of housing, disruption of social ties, changes in professional status, destruction of habitual ways of life, and increased uncertainty about the future. Psychological resilience is considered as a dynamic and multidimensional process that develops through the interaction of personal, social, and activity-based resources. Particular attention is paid to volunteer activity as a form of socially meaningful engagement that can function as a psychological resource under conditions of prolonged stress and life losses. Based on the analysis of contemporary scientific approaches, the study systematizes the psychological mechanisms through which volunteering contributes to the restoration of psychological resilience among internally displaced persons. It is demonstrated that participation in volunteer activity promotes the recovery of personal agency, the construction of new life meanings, greater social inclusion, and the activation of adaptive coping strategies for overcoming the consequences of internal displacement. The article substantiates the significance of volunteering as an integrative resource for psychological recovery and outlines prospects for further research on its role in supporting adaptation and well-being among internally displaced persons.
