Conflict of Interest Policy

The Herald of Kyiv Institute of Business and Technology adheres to principles of transparency and academic integrity in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

A conflict of interest arises when personal, professional, financial, or institutional relationships may influence, or appear to influence, the objectivity of research, peer review, or editorial decisions.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are required to:

  • disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may affect the research results or their interpretation;
  • identify all sources of funding;
  • disclose the involvement of any organization or individual that may have influenced the study design, data collection, or manuscript preparation.

Conflict of interest information must be included in a declaration within the manuscript.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must:

  • declare any potential conflict of interest prior to accepting a manuscript for review;
  • decline the review if personal, professional, or institutional relationships with the authors exist;
  • refrain from using confidential information obtained during the review process for personal benefit.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors and members of the Editorial Board:

  • must declare any conflicts of interest;
  • must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where personal, professional, or financial relationships with the authors exist;
  • ensure objectivity and impartiality in editorial decision-making.

In cases of conflict, the manuscript will be assigned to an independent editor or Editorial Board member.

4. Post-Publication Transparency

If a conflict of interest is identified after publication, the journal may:

  • publish a correction;
  • issue a disclosure statement;
  • initiate procedures in accordance with the Retraction and Correction Policy.
