Retraction Policy

  1. General Principles

The Editorial Board of Herald of Kyiv Institute of Business and Technology adheres to the principles of publication ethics and follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics regarding the retraction of published articles https://publicationethics.org/retraction-guidelines.

Retraction is a mechanism for correcting the literature and alerting readers to publications that contain seriously flawed or erroneous content.

Retractions are issued to maintain the integrity of the academic record.

  1. Grounds for Retraction

An article may be retracted in the following cases:

  • Proven plagiarism or self-plagiarism
  • Fabrication or falsification of data
  • Major methodological errors that invalidate the findings
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Copyright infringement
  • Undisclosed conflict of interest
  • Serious ethical violations in research conduct

Retraction is not intended to punish authors but to ensure the reliability of scholarly communication.

  1. Initiation of Retraction

The retraction procedure may be initiated by:

  • The Editorial Board
  • Reviewers
  • Authors
  • Readers or third parties

All allegations are handled confidentially and objectively.

  1. Investigation Procedure

The journal follows a structured review process:

  1. Preliminary assessment by the Editor-in-Chief.
  2. Communication with the author(s) requesting clarification and supporting documentation.
  3. Consultation with independent experts if necessary.
  4. Final decision by the Editorial Board.

The journal ensures fairness, transparency, and due process throughout the investigation.

  1. Retraction Notice

If retraction is confirmed:

  • The article remains available online to preserve the scholarly record.
  • A clear and linked retraction notice is published.
  • The PDF version is watermarked with the label “RETRACTED”.
  • The reason for retraction is clearly stated.

Retraction notices are permanently linked to the original article.

  1. Corrections and Expression of Concern

If the issue does not justify full retraction, the journal may:

  • Publish a formal correction (Correction).
  • Issue an Expression of Concern while the investigation is ongoing.
  1. Transparency and Indexing

Retraction information remains publicly accessible and is clearly identifiable in indexing systems and databases.

The journal cooperates with abstracting and indexing services to ensure that retraction status is properly reflected.
